Shopping for cyber sights and sounds and some very nice souls By Mimi Hill AFTER MILES AND MILES of slow-loading broad band sucking graphics, I recently came upon Imagics, a graphics site that restored my faith in the nine items or less line. I was looking for some great music and what better place to find it than on KUSP public radio? When you're all done shopping, jump over to Camp Harmon for some of the world's bravest campers. Labeling Theory Check out this site if you're interested in artwork, meditation, personal growth, healing, social and global change or if you enjoy original transformative artwork. Imagics is a powerhouse of a company, women-owned and run since 1978 by local residents. The folks there specialize in design, advertising campaigns, high-end computer graphics, pre-press and conceptual illustrations. The duo behind the scenes wish to create healing, meditative and inspiring images, which lead the twosome to create a line of Mandala Prints and original paintings on view at this site. I really like the layout of this page and especially appreciated how fast the images download. Twist and Shout Have you ever been surfing the Net late at night when KUSP runs some cool contest and asks an easy question like "Who hosts This Way Out every Tuesday at 12:30pm?" Since you care about local radio, you're a KUSP member and you know your program guide must be somewhere ... but by the time you find it, those great tickets are already gone. Well now you can point your browser to KUSP's Web site and get a schedule, frequencies, set lists, special programming announcements, etc., anytime you want. Hey, keep it in cache! This is non-commercial radio at its best, so check out its page. Nature's Own Camp Harmon is a resident, co-educational camp for disabled children and adults. The camp, situated amidst the splendor of mountains and forest, was constructed with camper's health, accessibility, safety and comfort in mind. Smooth pathways, ramps and other facilities abound. The facilities include a combined lodge and dining hall, 14 winterized cabins, an arts and crafts center, nature lodge, an infirmary, accessible pool, athletic field, hiking trails and an animal farm with horseback riding. Under the guidance of trained staff, each camper may choose from a wide variety of activities designed with the individual in mind. Recreational activities at Camp Harmon are designed to provide the opportunity for progressive development, to achieve goals of greater independence, improved interpersonal relationships and a greater degree of self care. Their purpose is to make it fun without pressures of comparison or too much competition. Rules for acceptance and participation in the program are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex or disability.
