Elias Sorokin, a Los Angeles man who went missing last week, may have been involved in the distribution of pot, according to Santa Cruz Police Captain Steve Clark. Sorokin’s credit card and a personal check surfaced in Santa Cruz this Friday. A group of friends has organized to search the Santa Cruz area after a psychic said that he may be in bad health. Earlier, psychics and astrologers warned them that Sorokin is being held against his will by “bad people.”
While Sorokin’s friends may be hoping for supernatural help, local police are focusing on the drug-related angle. Sorokin’s father says that his son had a medical marijuana card, but does not believe that he was involved with heavy drugs or trafficking. This conflicts with information received by the Watsonville police, which claims that Sorokin was involved with more significant marijuana trafficking. “If that information bears out to be true,” says Clark, “that changes the whole paradigm of the investigation.” Read more at Inside Bay Area.
