It looks like $10 is the new $8 at most state parks in Santa Cruz County. Starting Monday, Aug. 17, entrance to six of the county’s most popular state parks and beaches—Manresa, Natural Bridges, New Brighton, Seacliff, Sunset and Wilder Ranch—will jump from $8 to $10 in an effort to recoup $6 million in line-item vetoes by Gov. Schwarzenegger.

Three other parks—Big Basin, Ano Nuevo and Henry Cowell Redwoods—will take an even greater leap, from $7 to $10, while the Forest of Nisene Marks will climb from $6 to $8.

Camping fees are going up too—by $10 a night at Big Basin, Henry Cowell, Manresa and Sunset. Tent camping will now cost $35 at those parks, while a premium hookup at Seacliff will climb 50 percent, from $44 to $65 per night.
