“California, I’ll be knocking on the golden door,” could be the new motto of UCSC this week. The school received a $615,175 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to digitize its Grateful Dead Collection and post items online at a new website to be called “The Virtual Terrapin Station.” UCSC was one of 51 schools across the nation to receive federal grant money, totaling almost $18 million. The school has one of the largest repositories of material relating to the legendary band, including an archive donated by the band itself in 2008. Additional material, constituting about one-third of the total collection, was donated to the school by loyal Deadheads. Read more at CBS.
