What do you do for a living?
I am a dairy sheep farmer and cheesemaker.


What would you be doing if you weren’t doing that?

Working as a chef.

What brought you to Santa Cruz?

I originally moved here in 1993 to attend UCSC.

What’s your favorite street?
I’d have to say West Cliff. On a sunny day, a walk or drive down West Cliff is an instant stress reliever and mood enhancer.

Name something you’re excited about.

My Adopt-a-Ewe program, which is a cross between a CSA and a micro-loan. Instead of a starving child in Africa, you can sponsor a dairy sheep and get cheese in return!


Name a pet peeve.

When people ask me about my goats; I don’t have any goats, just dairy sheep!


What are you reading?

The last thing I read was the Twillight series and I’m not ashamed to admit it. These days I go for literary bubble gum to check out from my daily grind.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in the last three years?
Kharma is real. People really admire when someone has a positive vision or a dream and puts in the work to see it through. I’ve gotten so much support and positive feedback from my friends and family and the community as I’ve been working to put together my farm and get my business going.


Recent personal food trend?

Lots and lots of fresh fruit from the farmers market. It’s been a stellar strawberry year.
