In Pim's hands, apricots become a delicious dessert.

Pim Techamuanvivit, author of the food blog ChezPim and Sri Racha fanatic, travels the globe in search of gastronomic treasures. When she comes home, it is to the Michelin-starred chef David Kinch of Manresa restaurant fame. Pim, whom the London Guardian once called the “queen of the food bloggers,” has written The Foodie Handbook, cooked Pad Thai for Martha Stewart, and had her recipes featured in the New York Times and Bon Appétit magazine. What was the last live music you saw?

The Jazz Vipers at the Spotted Cat on Frenchman St. in New Orleans, between a huge gumbo dinner and and an after-midnight dessert of beignets and sweet café au lait.

What is your secret talent?

I don’t keep a secret talent.

What would you have for your last meal?

Freshly cooked Thai jasmine rice, with a Thai omelette that’s been fried in lard until fluffy and crisp at the edges, and loads of Sriracha sauce, the real stuff, as in actually from Sriracha, Thailand and not Rosemead, CA.

What is your favorite spot in Santa Cruz?

Capitola counts, yes? I’m loving Mr. Kebab & Falafel in Capitola so much right now. I go there for proper mezze and falafel. They do it right. The other falafel places in town are just pretending.
