What do you do for a living?

I teach people all over the world how to build strength, gain skills and get healthy through many of my websites like LegendaryStrength.com, through books, DVDs, workshops, personal coaching and more. A lot of this is a little off the wall, from doing handstands and juggling kettlebells to bending horseshoes. But I also cover info for the average person to just get in shape and lose weight.

What would you be doing if you weren’t doing that?

It's hard to imagine doing something else. My last “real” job was at Staff of Life. But if I couldn't do this specifically I'd figure out something else I love to do and do that.

What do you do in your free time?

I spend lots of time studying any topic that interests me, from strength building, increasing my business, learning how to use my mind better and much more. Besides that, I enjoy spending time with my friends, especially my girlfriend, watching movies and in general having a good time.

What’s your favorite feat of strength?

It's hard to pick a favorite. If I had to pick one it would probably be the Weighted Wrestler's Bridge. I get in a back bridge with only my feet and head touching the ground. It’s a phenomenal neck and spine exercise. But then, because this is so easy for me, I add weight to it. My personal best is supporting 500 lbs. on top of me in this position. It’s one of my favorites because it scares people and they all think I'm going to break my neck doing it. Great for a show!

Worst strongman experience?

Different quality materials have different degrees of difficulty. In one show I was doing, although the phone book looked fairly small, it was super tough. It probably was also made tougher by sitting out in the elements and absorbing moisture. Usually I can rip through a phone book in about 5 seconds. But this one didn't go so easily. I was successful but it took about a minute to do it, which doesn't look good for the crowd.

Who’s your hero?

I read a biography about The Mighty Atom, an old-time strongman from the vaudeville era. He easily bent thick nails and could even bite through chains. He's the inspiration for me getting into feats of strength, specifically the pulling of vehicles by my hair. I don't plan to duplicate this one, as it almost killed him, but twice he killed an airplane back from taking off with his hair.

Name a pet peeve.

Complaining.

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

I usually have a shake that has a whole bunch of superfoods and herbs in it. A base of almonds, brazil nuts, banana and figs. Then I add cacao, medicinal mushrooms, blue-green algae, vitamin c, minerals, goji berries, honey, coconut oil, rice protein powder and a few other things. It tastes good and is great for you.

What’s the last book you recommended to someone?

Peak Performance: Mental Training Techniques of the World's Greatest Athletes by Charles A. Garfield.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I wasn't always this strong. As a kid I was more interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons than sports. It wasn't until many years later, after high school, that I started enjoying working out and got to where I am today.
