Estevan Abram Lopez, 24, turned himself in to the Santa Cruz County Jail on Thursday, ending a two-month search for him. Lopez, who works as a cleaner, was wanted for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman in January. Police had been searching for him “relentlessly” until then. He had previously been arrested for assault, possession of narcotics, and other crimes.
According to the victim’s account, she had met Lopez at the home of a mutual friend. The two of them were sleeping at the home, but when she woke up the next morning, she found Lopez assaulting her.
Lopez’s bail was set at $500,000. He will appear before a judge on April 5. Read more at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
