The Aug. 12 forum, organized by Santa Cruz Weekly and the League of Women Voters, will be televised live from Cabrillo College on KION.

The two frontrunners in the race for the 15th District State Senate seat, Sam Blakeslee and John Laird, will face off alongside candidates Jim Fitzgerald and Mark Hinkle in an Aug. 12 televised candidates forum. That’s just five days before the Aug. 17 election to fill the seat recently vacated by newly appointed Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado.
Co-sponsors Santa Cruz Weekly and the League of Women Voters organized the event, which will start promptly at 7pm in the Music Recital Hall of Cabrillo’s new Visual And Performing Arts complex. Alex Starr, President of the League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City, will moderate the hour-long program, which will include questions from LWV members, journalists and members of the public throughout the 15th District.

The event is sold out, but the forum will be broadcast live on KION Channel 46 and KCOY Channel 12. Additionally, KUSP 88.9-FM will broadcast the forum live.

15TH SENATE DISTRICT CANDIDATE FORUM is Thursday, Aug. 12 at 7pm at the Cabrillo College Music Recital Hall, VAPA (on the south side of Soquel Drive), 6500 Soquel Dr, Aptos. Doors open at 6pm. Free, but tickets required.
