The SCPD has decided to shine a little light on the homeless protesters’ Peace Camp outside City Hall. They brought in floodlights, “an additional security measure … for the safety of our community.” The decision was made after police arrested Mark Greer, 29, a registered sex-offender who was camping out with the protesters. Despite the terms of his parole, Greer has failed to register with the police since June.
The protesters have yet to comment on the lights, which may keep them from catching their beauty rest. Police say that illuminating the site costs the SCPD about $100 per day. Read more at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
