About 400 kids showed up at the Elks Lodge on Sunday for a Christmas party hosted by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department. There were movies, games, and other activities, and even gifts for all the kids, provided by the families of sheriff’s deputies and by the Target store in Watsonville. “We want to show everybody that we’re fathers, mothers, aunts and uncles. “Most people only see police in the performance of our duties, not helping kids into jump houses or sitting down to a movie,” said Deputy Mike Pruger, who helped organize the event.
