It’s been a while since the Capitola Theater held its last show. Still, the wrecking ball came as a shock to fans of the 61-year-old venue, considered a landmark in Capitola Village. Barry Swenson builder, which owns the property, plans to replace it with a hotel, though there is some debate as to the preferred style. Swenson’s architect has submitted two possibilities, one Mediterranean and the other Victorian. But it seems that people are still attached to the pink stucco that set the building apart.
