Laika Grant Mann’s Worldflix offers potential donors an opportunity to watch interviews with the people who would benefit from their largesse.

Laika Grant Mann has a long history with Santa Cruz. She graduated from UCSC, worked as a legal intern at Goldman, Goldman & Myers, where she eventually became a partner, and worked at the Santa Cruz Superior Court, helping families represent themselves in child custody cases, and founding the Pro Per Night Court for working people.

Then she founded worldflix.org, a philanthropic website with a difference. Using the tagline “See the change you wish to make in the world,” Worldflix offers potential donors an opportunity to watch interviews with people in the communities that would benefit from their largesse. Causes covered by Worldflix include ways to provide the world’s neediest people with food, water, shelter and health care. All donations go to the target population. Current projects highlighted by the site are in Tibet, Uganda and Haiti. The videos themselves are hosted on YouTube. Worldflix’ offices are in Santa Cruz’s NextSpace. Read more at the Mercury News.
