Police searching for a missing man from Los Angeles were in Santa Cruz County yesterday after two people tried to use his credit card and cash a check to him in the county. Elias Sorokin, 29, disappeared on Monday of last week after informing his family that he would be home by 4pm. He has not been heard from since. Later that week someone tried to cash one of his checks at a Bank of America in Santa Cruz and a couple tried to use his credit card in Watsonville. The two managed to get away before the police were notified.
Though Sorokin disappeared from Oakland, the LAPD is conducting the investigation, because Sorokin is a resident of Los Angeles. There is no indication about what might have happened to him, and foul play has not been ruled out. Read more at the San Jose Mercury News.
