Officially it may be spring, but Scotts Valley is still reeling from the latest effects of a stormy winter. A 200-foot rock slide that occurred at 2pm on Monday afternoon blocked Nelson Road and left dozens of homes inaccessible to rescue vehicles.

Officially it may be spring, but Scotts Valley is still reeling from the latest effects of a stormy winter. A 200-foot rock slide that occurred at 2pm on Monday afternoon blocked Nelson Road and left dozens of homes inaccessible to rescue vehicles.

Crews worked throughout the day and late into the night to clear away the rubble and restore power to the stranded residents. Some fled their homes on foot, negotiating a treacherous path through the rubble. The fear they have is that the storms are not over yet.
