The police announced that they have a major suspect in the theft of $25,000 in funds raised by the Harbor High football team, and it is not the new coach, Travis Rebbert. Nevertheless, the Superintendent of Santa Cruz City Schools Gary Bloom is continuing to investigate whether Rebbert acted responsibly by keeping the money, which included $10,000 in cash, in his office, rather than submitting it to the school district business office. Bloom is also looking into why Rebbert chose to make purchases using personal credit cards, which is against district policy.

According to police, there were no signs of forced entry into Rebbert’s office or the drawer where the money was kept, indicating that this was an inside job. Nevertheless, Bloom insists that Rebbert may simply be “the innocent victim of a burglary.” Read more at Santa Cruz Sentinel.
