Officers with the California Highway Patrol have located a 1998 burgundy Nissan Maxima they believe struck cyclist Zachary Parke, 25, in a fatal hit-and-run. CHP Officer Sarah Jackson expressed gratitude for leads submitted by the public that led to the identification of the vehicle.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol have located a 1998 burgundy Nissan Maxima they believe struck cyclist Zachary Parke, 25, in a fatal hit-and-run. CHP Officer Sarah Jackson expressed gratitude for leads submitted by the public that led to the identification of the vehicle.

On June 8, Parke, a bike courier and avid rock climber who studied art at Cabrillo College, was leaving the UCSC campus shortly after midnight when the accident occurred. He was hit by a car and thrown from his bike near the West Entrance of the campus. His body was found that morning in the bushes near Heller Drive on Empire Grade Road.

Police are not yet releasing details about the suspect. A memorial fund has been set up for Zachary Parke.
