Prostitution has become a growing problem for people living along lower Ocean Street. Crime has increased, and neighbors are complaining that the “wrong type of people” are
moving into the neighborhood in a cycle of crime and clean-up that has been going on for years. Late last month, the police intervened, arresting 10 women and a man allegedly involved in prostitution. Zach Friend, Spokesperson for the SCPD was pleased with the results of the sting, but noted that the results were different this time from any previous operations. Only three of the women were county residents, with the remainder coming from as far away as Sacramento.
