Travis Rebbert, the new coach of the Harbor High School football team, has been cleared by police of suspicion in the theft of $25,000. The money, raised by students during the summer, was intended to finance the team during the coming year. It was stolen out of a desk drawer in Rebbert’s office, which he claimed was locked. Rebbert was originally put on leave by the school, but was back on the field practicing with his team on Wednesday. Harbor High plays its first game of the season on Friday night against Watsonville’s Pajaro Valley High.

While the money has yet to be recovered, several local businesses have pledged to support the team by offering proceeds from their sales on set dates throughout the next two months. Meanwhile, the police are continuing to investigate the crime, and expect to make an arrest by the end of the week. Read more at Fox 35.
