Dennis Osmer left his post as head of the Watsonville area water agency.

The Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency lost the chair of its board yesterday with the sudden resignation of Dennis Osmer. He later compared the role of chair to that of a circus ringmaster, and noted one boardmember, John G. Eiskamp, as being particularly troublesome.
The problem began on Wednesday night, when the Board met to discuss its lawsuit with the Pajaro Sunny Mesa Community Services District. The PVWMA is concerned that it could go bankrupt if it loses the lawsuit. Since Eiskamp has publicly taken the side of Sunny Mesa in the dispute, he was asked not to attend the meeting, at which the Board discussed its legal strategy. He did attend the meeting anyways, arguing that a difference of opinion over policy should not prevent him from attending. For the next two hours, the Board discussed his presence there.
Osmer says Eiskamp is not the only problem he faced, and called out the Board for validating Eiskamp’s behavior. His replacement, Vice Chair Rosemarie Imazio said that her first order of business at upcoming Board meetings will be to maintain protocol and ensure that meetings are no longer interrupted.
