With more and more people homeless and hungry across Santa Cruz, the addition of a brand new walk-in freezer at the Homeless Service Center was a very welcome addition to the city’s homeless services. The freezer was donated by Love, Inc., a Christian service group that provides home furnishings and household goods to the needy. Along with the freezer came 2,500 lbs. of food, donated by Second Harvest. With these donations, the city’s homeless will no longer have to pay 50 cents per meal.
City officials now hope that more help for the homeless is on its way as they prepare for the annual Soupline Supper and Benefit Auction. The event is scheduled to take place on April 29 at the Cocoanut Grove Ballroom. Read more at KION and Fox 35.
