It was a busy weekend for Santa Cruz's gun wielding maniacs.

After a violent weekend that left one dead and two injured, the SCPD are now looking for a man who fired into a home near Woodrow Avenue and Walk Circle on Monday evening. According to police, the suspect, a short, bald Latino man of about 23, fired three shots from a revolver into the house at about 6:40 pm, and then fled the scene on a mountain bike, which he later abandoned. Police are still searching for the suspect, and have not released any information yet as to the motive of the crime. They did, however, link one of the residents of the home to a major, ongoing drug investigation.

In related news, police claim that at least two of this weekend’s shootings may have been linked. The 18-year-old man shot near Beach Flats was attending a memorial for Omar Alejandro Lopez, who was killed. Police are reluctant to say whether the shootings indicate a spike in gang violence in the city.

Politicians, however, are more concerned about that, and Councilman Tony Madrigal has used the violence as a backdrop for his call to support Proposition H. The ballot measure, which would increase the utility tax, would raise additional funding for the police and youth intervention programs.
