Cheryl L. Beauchamp, 34, from Tampa, Fla., was exploring Santa Cruz on foot last Thursday, taking a walk along Highway 17. Perhaps she didn’t know that people are not supposed to walk along the freeway, but she had been warned about this by California Highway Patrol officer Christopher Shore, who’d stopped beside her at about 10am on Highway 1, going southbound.

She did not heed his warning. Two hours later, Shore found Beauchamp again, this time on Highway 17 south of the Pasatiempo overpass. He pulled up beside her, but Beauchamp wasn’t daunted. She simply removed her bikini top and dropped the shorts that she was wearing to expose herself to the passing drivers, many of whom are not accustomed to seeing naked women on the freeway.

Shore then arrested Beauchamp and charged her with indecent exposure and, of course, for being on the freeway illegally. That would have been illegal, whether she was dressed or not. Read more at Santa Cruz Sentinel.
