On Tuesday night, an armed robber entered the store and demanded money. The owner, Yahya Ahmed, 32, gave him what he asked for, but before the robber left he shot Ahmed dead. The suspect is described as a heavy-set man about 6 feet tall in his late twenties. He has a blond or brown shaved head and was wearing a black T-shirt.
Ahmed, an immigrant from Yemen, was well known in the city’s small Muslim community. He had just returned from a visit to Yemen to see his pregnant wife, who still lives there. His murder was the first homicide in Watsonville this year. Read more at Fox 35 and KSBW.
