The Lompico Water Board acknowledged that sarcasm and passive aggressive comments plague its meetings as the majority of board members pointed their fingers and said they’d found the culprit.
The water board has voted to censure Sherwin Gott—elected last year—for outbursts, inappropriate comments and contacting suppliers and vendors without board approval. Gott has compared the action to “political character assassination,” while board president Rick Harrington says the wrist slap has no political power. “I truly hope the result of this in the future is that he thinks about this and changes the way he conducts himself,” Harrington told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
The board approved the censure 3-2 with Sherwin Gott and board member Shannar Abraham dissenting, but the board might have to wait for the next special board meeting on Nov. 7 to see if the reprimand has eased tensions or made them worse.
