As of 8am Saturday morning, the Lockheed fire north of Santa Cruz had spread to 6,800 acres but was 30 percent contained. CalFire ramped up the effort over the last 24 hours, marshalling 1,550 firefighters, 234 fire engines, 17 fire crews and 22 bulldozers to corral the blaze.
