Move over, James Durbin. You’re not the only star in Santa Cruz. There’s also Coco, a miniature porkie (half pug and half Yorkie), who will be taking to the airwaves on Univision’s “Dogs Who Look Like Their Owners” contest.
“Coco is obese, with bulging eyes, a Mohawk, wiry gray fur and makes little pig-like snorting sounds,” says Rafael Torres-Gil, the owner of Coco. It actually makes him wonder what his wife thinks of him, especially since she enrolled the dog—and her husband—in the contest.
Still, Torres-Gil loves Coco and is proud to fly to Miami to participate on Sabado Gigante, the longest-running variety show in the world. “She’s a great little dog,” he says. She is also something of a local star, having performed in the Cabrillo Stage production of The Wizard of Oz.
So let’s see what we have here: another local star with a Mohawk, or rather a fauxhawk. James Durbin really has competition after all. Read more at NBC Bay Area.
