Giovani diMaio was a local treasure for connoisseurs of fine Italian cuisine. The chef at the original Cafe Bella Napoli went on to found Limoncello, known for its limoncello liqueur-saturated frozen dessert. On Thursday diMaio found himself feasting on prison food after he was booked in the Santa Cruz County Jail. The chef was charged with possession of kiddie porn.

Police began investigating diMaio in September after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone in the area had been distributing child pornography over the internet. After a yearlong investigation, diMaio was identified as the suspect.

Bail was set at $100,000. Because diMaio is not an American citizen, his case was also referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Read more at ABC7 and KSBW.
