An 18-year-old resident of Santa Cruz County says he was attacked by 10 people at a party, but refused to tell the police who those people were. According to the victim, the party took place on West Lake Avenue in Watsonville. Police were notified of the assault after the youth showed up at Watsonville Community Hospital shortly after 1:30am Sunday morning. Hospital staff determined that the stab wounds and lacerations he received were not life threatening.
Police later said that they could not even find the crime scene, even though the victim gave them an address. They had been to the party earlier, they said, because of complaints about the noise, but when they arrived later to investigate the stabbing they found no one there.
Officer Brian Ridgway said that uncooperative witnesses at crimes such as these are “surprisingly common.” Read more at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
