Santa Cruz may be one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, ranked 15th in terms of per capita personal income. But while income increased 5.3 percent in 2007, new figures released by the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis show that income growth dropped dramatically because of the recession to just 0.6 percent in 2008.
