Recognizing that many local residents are afraid to turn to the police for help, they’ve decided to take the mountain to Mohammed by going door to door in troubled neighborhoods, introducing themselves and getting any tips they can on local crime. “At first we don’t know why we’re there,” said one officer. “When we explain to them they’re more comfortable and they give us information,” he added.
