San Jose-based company moves quickly after Fairfield Inn approval in Santa Cruz.
Having just won a victory with it proposal to construct a Fairfield Inn in Santa Cruz, Lotus Management Inc. of San Jose is moving ahead with a third project for Santa Cruz County (it is also planning to build a Marriot Hotel in Beach Flats). On Tuesday, Watsonville’s Planning Commission will discuss the groups proposal to put up a five-story Holiday Inn on Westgate Drive in Watsonville. The San Jose-based company says that this is part of a strategy to focus on developing hotels close to home, while divesting itself of many of its out-of-state properties. Though Watsonville has several motels, the Holiday Inn would be the city’s first and, according to Lotus executives, boost tourism revenue in the town. Read More at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
