Live Oak-Soquel Supervisor John Leopold was appointed to the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District Board, raising complaints among some local officials. Leopold has long opposed the widening of Highway 1, as well as several other proposals to improve traffic congestion in the county. Leopold claims that his sole desire in serving on the board is to improve the local bus system. Santa Cruz City Councilwoman Lynn Robinson also raised the issue that he was replacing Pat Spence, who is disabled person.
