It is also probably why Forbes magazine listed UCSC as one of the most beautiful campuses in the world, right up there with Oxford and Bologna.
“Its natural setting helps define its character,” said Aaron Schwarz of the architecture and design firm Perkins Eastman, who helped develop the list of most beautiful schools. As one student pointed out, it’s the trails that wind through redwood groves that really set the tone for the campus. “A powerful landscape can play a significant role in establishing a campus’ character,” says Schwarz, adding that its location above the Pacific is blessed with some good natural-setting “genes.” Read more at Forbes and the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
