At a meeting of the California School Board Association Region 9 last night, educators were urged to fight the impending cuts to school budgets rather than simply comply with them. The meeting also discussed the federal government’s Race to the Top program, which is less popular in California than elsewhere. While the Santa Cruz City School District has already signed on for the program, smaller districts are hesitant, claiming that administrative costs alone could exceed the funding they receive.
