SEPT. 9-11
HereAfterHere: A Self-Guided Tour of Eternity
In a repeat of last year’s sold-out run, choreographer Tandy Beal mixes poetry, comedy, music and dance in a metaphysical production that asks, “What happens after we die?” Cabrillo Crocker Theater. $16.50-$39.50. 3pm & 7:30pm.

Thriller Dance Classes
Learn how to do Michael Jackson’s famous “Thriller” dance in preparation for the annual “Thrill the World” dance event happening worldwide Oct. 29 (including in downtown Santa Cruz). Louden Nelson Center. Free. 4pm & 10:30am depending on date. Through Oct. 22.

Vulnerable Power
2011 Next Frontier Artist Amanda Greenlee premieres her multi-generational dance theatre production focusing on women and their relationship with power. 418 Project. Weekends at 8pm.

Day of the Dead Celebration
Cultural dance performances, live music and a community altar for those who have passed. Museum of Art and History. 11am-2pm. Free.

Third Annual Emerging Choreographers Showcase
Featuring some of the area’s up-and-coming dance creatives. 418 Project. 8pm.

Cabrillo Winter Dance Concert
Cabrillo students perform new and exciting dance pieces by local and Bay Area artists. Cabrillo Crocker Theater. $10-$12. 1pm & 7:30pm.

The Nutcracker
The Santa Cruz Ballet Theater presents Tchaikovsky’s classic holiday show with special guests Melody Herrera, Lucien Postlewaite and conductor John Larry Granger. Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Price TBA.
