The ring was top prize in a scavenger in downtown Santa Cruz, sponsored by Scvngr Inc. Some 300 participants received clues on their cell phones, and had 15 minutes to solve them. Once the ring was in Karl Tunis’s hands, he got down on bended knee in front of a cheering crowd of participants and asked Erica to marry him. The two had been dating for two years.
