It was a day to take pride in the Santa Cruz community and the spirit of cooperation. Courtney Jones of AmeriCorps recognizes that, but she had a message for the people of Santa Cruz: “We need volunteers every day of the year.” Martin Luther King Day is a reminder, but the legacy of the slain civil rights leader lives on 365 days a year.
