City leaders in Santa Cruz hosted a brainstorming session last night in an effort to come up with ideas to curb local violence. Participants included City Council, the SCPD, and representatives of local schools and community centers. There was also a large contingent of teens, shocked by the recent stabbing death of 16-year-old Tyler Tenorio. Recognizing that some of the violence comes from teens involved in gangs, Maya Salsedo told the audience that, “I thought I’d like to come because often we’re not included in discussions about how we want to change our city.”
