Last night, the Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Company held a special fundraiser. For every beer sold, $1 went to support the Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana and help them build a new home. WAMM says that it has been economically strapped recently, or as Valerie Corral puts it, “financially marginalized … it’s often month to month.” Yet, as more and more people turn to medical marijuana, they want a space that is large enough to accommodate the growing number of medical marijuana users in the community.
According to the brewery, the event should not be interpreted as an endorsement of marijuana, whether medical or otherwise. It was simply an opportunity to help a group in the community. And help they did in some small way. The event raised $250 dollars.
