Jeff Arnett, athletic director at Pacific Collegiate School, resigned his position after a clash with Principal Chris Mercer. Mercer had recently insisted that Arnett obtain his approval for all emails about funding for the athletics program that he planned to send to parents and coaches. The issue began last week, when Arnett sent out an email urging parents to lobby on behalf of the program at a Monday meeting of Parent Volunteer Association. He believed that the school would be cutting funding to the program, and had hoped that the PVA would cover some of the losses.

The school was unwilling to comment on Arnett’s resignation. As for Arnett, who also lectures on writing at UCSC, he felt that Mercer’s decision was indicative of an effort to micromanage him. Read More at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
