This weekend the pantry was robbed of hundreds of pounds of dog food. The thieves broke into the storage shed, where the food was kept, causing serious damage to the building. A new shed could cost as much as $500, which the financially strapped organization would have otherwise spent on the community’s needy animals.
Mandi Hart of the Santa Cruz SPCA described the robbery as a “kick in the face.” The one solace was that animal lovers throughout the community revved up their efforts to donate pet food. Hart says the group plans to continue handing out pet food to needy residents every Friday at 4pm. Read more at KSBW.
