CCABC, an ABC affiliate, is coming to Santa Cruz and the rest of the Central Coast on April 18. The channel will share a lot in common with NBC station KSBW in Salinas, right down to the building (the two will share the same address) and the news broadcasters (Dan Green, Erin Clark and the gang will provide simulcast news programs on the two channels). That’s because Hearst Corp., which owns KSBW, will also own CCABC.

CCABC will knock out San Francisco’s ABC affiliate KGO and ABC stations from Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
KSBW President and General Manager Joe Heston says that the channel will be an important source of information for people living on the Central Coast. It will provide more information about local news, including breaking news coverage and vital information in the event of an emergency, and feature local advertising.
The new channel will be available on 7 for Comcast and Dish viewers. DirecTV has not yet determined where the channel will be. Read more at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
