St. Patrick’s Day in Santa Cruz allows us to do what we do best – relax and chill out with friends and family while throwing back a few cold ones. In Santa Cruz, a variety of restaurants, pubs, clubs and even a winery or two are going green for St. Patrick’s Day. From pouring green beer to hosting Celtic music, the following selection of venues will keep you from staying at home on St. Patrick’s Day.
Serving up piping hot BBQ and the best french fries in Watsonville, Carmona's BBQ is celebrating St. Patrick's Day with all-day corned beef and cabbage, Reuben sandwiches, green hot wings and green-hued beer. Sit back and relax in their spacious dining area while basketball shows on the big screen televisions overhead.
Located at the bucolic Inn at Pasatiempo, which is next to the world-class Pasatiempo golf course, Back Nine Grill and Bar serves fresh, local fare hot off the grill and an assortment of appetizers, desserts and daily specials. A child's menu is also available. On St. Patrick's Day, Back Nine will serve Guinness Bombs ($7), Bartender's special pint with a shot of Jameson ($9) and corned beef and cabbage. The band Charmas will play Celtic music starting at noon.
The beach-side restaurant and bar located in Capitola Village will serve traditional Irish favorites, including Irish BLT, corned beef and Swiss on rye, Reuben sandwiches and Irish stew. Fresh from Belfast, DJ Donagh McKeown of the Irish Voices will get the dance party started at 4 p.m. Later in the evening at 7 p.m., Dublin-based, Singer-Songwriter Tony McMahon will lead a sing-a-long.
Where the staff is always friendly and the meat grilled to perfection, the Hindquarter Bar & Grill in Santa Cruz will be serving up their famous corned beef and cabbage all day long on St. Patrick's Day. Stop in for a pint of your favorite micro-brew and stay for the sirloins, t-bones, prime rib and juicy baby back ribs. St. Patrick's Day never tasted so good.
St. Patrick's Day is not just about eating and drinking copious amounts of beer, it is also a time to pinch strangers who forgot to wear green (green eyes do not count!) and searching for leprechauns (or have I got that mixed up?). In any case, head over to The Catalyst for a free reggae show featuring The Spiritual Rez and dance your little leprechaun heart out.
Family-owned and operated bistro in downtown Santa Cruz, Hoffman's will serve corned beef & cabbage, Shepherd's pie, Guinness-braised lamb shanks and Irish drink specials on St. Patrick's Day. As an extra treat, grab your pint and sit out front in their outdoor patio to people-watch on Pacific Avenue, which is sort of like a parade.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Saturday, March 19, in style tasting world-class wine made from grapes grown in the Santa Cruz Mountains while listening to live Celtic music by The Crooked Road Ceili Band. Music starts at 1 p.m. Tasting room opens at Noon.
