Welcoming Gender Diversity Forum
About Welcoming Gender Diversity Forum
Calvary Episcopal Church in Santa Cruz is hosting an event to increase understanding our own gender and learn how to best welcome gender diversity. Welcoming Gender Diversity Forum, will take place at Calvary Parish Hall at Cedar & Lincoln Streets on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and will feature:
• Understanding Gender Diversity with Jamie Joy of the Diversity Center.
• Screen segments from National Geographic’s Gender Revolution.
• LGBTQ+ Youth Panel.
• Small Group Breakouts.
“Gender diversity is a topic near and dear to my heart,” said the Rev. Dr. Austin Leininger, Calvary’s Priest-in-Charge. “It touches all of our families and circles of friends. In fact, since we are all represented somewhere in the spectrum of gender, it is a part of each of us that we could all benefit from understanding better. I look forward to exploring this subject together with our local community.”
This event is the fourth in a series of Community Forums presented by Calvary Episcopal Church. Calvary is collaborating with TransFamilies of Santa Cruz and the Diversity Center of Santa Cruz for this forum and volunteers from both organizations will lead the discussion.
The Diversity Center was founded in 1989 and reaches approximately 10,000 individuals each year through theirr programs, outreach, and educational events. Their mission is to build an equitable community where LGBTQ+ people thrive.
TransFamilies of Santa Cruz is a parent-facilitated, culturally inclusive group. Together they share specialized knowledge and personal experiences addressing the unique challenges we face supporting our extraordinary gender diverse children.
Space is limited. Plan to arrive early.
