Tip of The Iceberg: A Beginner's Guide to Yoga
About Tip of The Iceberg: A Beginner's Guide to Yoga
Interested in starting a yoga practice but don’t know where to begin? Been practicing for a while and would like a chance to dive deeper, and clarify a few concepts you have heard about in classes? Join Erika Abrahamian for a month long workshop series, as she lays the foundation to starting and growing your yoga practice in a step by step, progressive manner. Think of this series as the ABC’s of a flow-based practice: breath, alignment, modifications, and individualizing your practice in a group setting. In this workshop, you will get an overview of yoga philosophy and a brief modern history of the practice; you will learn common breathing techniques and other key elements in a vinyasa-based practice, and learn helpful alignment of basic postures and transitions. There will be ample time for discussion and questions, in a small group setting.
This workshop is appropriate for absolute beginners who are interested in starting a vinyasa-based practice.
What your students can expect to learn:
The workshop will empower the students who may otherwise feel intimidated in a yoga class, and will in turn, help their practice grow. By becoming more informed about the practice, the students will feel more invested in it and be more open to the transformation that awaits them with a regular yoga practice.
Erika Abrahamian has been teaching at Santa Cruz Yoga since 2011. She sees the potential in modern asana practice as a holistic, therapeutic, and transformational modality, and teaches in a way that facilitates growth, independence, and play. In her intensives and her own practice, she explores the intersection of yoga, psychology, and buddhism.
Cost: $225. No refunds after 12/10.
Schedule of workshop:
Wednesdays: 7:30-9pm , Sundays: 1:30-3 pm
