About The Song In Us
"The Song In Us" is a site-responsive sound installation by San Francisco artist, Ali True. “The Song in Us” offers a space for peace and participation throughout the entire exhibition. The work is reflective, meditative, and musical.
Through her art, Ali explores awareness, attunement, and community. During the exhibition musicians, dancers, and gallery visitors are invited to respond and contribute. Connecting with community and collaborating with artists was a large part of the intention of Ali and Radius. In collaboration with Indexical, musicians Sahba Sizdahkhani (Iran), Chris Duncan (Oakland) and the Indexical Ensemble will perform within the artwork. TWDCC’s Angela Chambers will debut a site-specific dance. Yoga instructor Amanda Harper (UK) will offer restorative yoga and meditation in the space. The beautiful sounds baths from Santa Cruz Threshold Singers will open and close the exhibition.
The series "Musical Drawings" transform Radius walls into a harp - or some sort of string instrument. The drawings are about constellations and views are invited to pluck to create sound and watch the color vibrate.
MUSICAL PERFORMANCES: Saturdays September 16 & 30 at 8:00pm
DANCE PERFORMANCES: Friday, Oct 6 at 7:00pm & Sunday, Oct 8 at 3:00pm
YOGA & MEDIATION: Wednesdays in September at 7:00pm
ARTIST TALK & MEDITATION DRAWING WORKSHOP: Sunday, Oct 8 at 2:00pm
SOUND BATHS: Friday, September 8 & Sunday, October 8.
