About The Cookers

The Cookers – the name comes from the title of Freddie Hubbard's classic 1965 Blue Note recording, Night of the Cookers – aptly describes this group of dynamic jazz artists: Billy Harper – tenor saxophone; Eddie Henderson – trumpet; David Weiss – trumpet; Donald Harrison – saxophones/flute; George Cables – piano; Cecil McBee – bass; and Billy Hart – drums. Drawing on a collective experience covering decades of music making, The Cookers bring the timeless sound of early '60s post-bop creativity into the 21st Century. Their latest album, Time and Time Again, is an exciting follow up to their three previous recordings, Believe, Cast the First Stone and Warriors.
