Sweet HayaH

San Jose's Sweet HayaH play a sub-genre of soul that doesn't even have a name, a hybrid of rock, world-beat, blues and classic R&B. This show will be the release party for their first album, Sweet Awakening. Even with just the one album under their belt, the band already shows so much confidence, particularly lead singer Nehal Abuelata, whose voice channels the deep passion of the classic soul artists, while the band-Devin Moreno, Aaron Marques and Josh Gardner-backs her with a funky concoction of blues and indie-rock. Despite the album's title, Sweet HayaH have been captivating audiences in the South Bay since 2011. They will be joined by Philthy Dronez, Melted State, and Dogcatcher. (Amulya Datla)
