About Susan Anders & Tom Manche at the Ugly Mug

Susan Anders & Tom Manche Perform at the Ugly Mug
Pre-Release Show for Susan’s new CD “Loop de Loop”

Susan Anders brings her smart folk-pop songs, her new CD Loop de Loop, and her “soulful, commanding voice” (the New Yorker) to the Ugly Mug for a rare Santa Cruz performance. She is touring with her husband Tom Manche, who will also play a set of his darkly funny songs.
UCSC graduate Anders (then Susan Streitwieser) lived in Santa Cruz for seven years in the late 70s/early 80s. Her a cappella quintet The Distractions performed at The Catalyst, Kuumbwa, and throughout the area. Now a popular voice coach in Nashville, Tennessee, Anders has continued to write, record, and perform in bands and as a solo artist. Loop de Loop features her “Music for adults: witty and insightful” (Dirty Linen) and her continued love of harmonies, with lots of layered vocals prominent in the production. Anders produced the CD with Manche, who owns and operates Studio X in Nashville.
Ohio native Manche will also perform a set. With song titles like “Cirque du So What”, “Magical Butts”, and “Morning Breath”, Manche is not your typical overly sincere, dewy-eyed performer. Expect guitar chops, wild vocals, and whacked out lyrics. Tom’s newest CD is Man Cheese Music, by Tom Manche and the Young Coots.
Loop de Loop will be officially released in the fall. Pre-release copies will be given away to the first twenty attendees.
